OS EFEITOS DA RADIOTERAPIA NO TRATAMENTO DE CÂNCER NO COMPLEXO MAXILO MANDIBULAR

Resumo

Através da radioterapia tornou-se disponível a realização do tratamento de neoplasias malignas. Porém, sua utilização como método terapêutico promove alguns malefícios à saúde oral se tratando de tumores que envolvem o complexo maxilo-mandibular. No entanto, é necessário o acompanhamento odontológico para orientar adequadamente esses pacientes quanto aos cuidados com a higiene oral diminuindo os efeitos colaterais causados. O presente estudo tem como objetivo descrever os efeitos adversos causados pelo tratamento radioterápico na região de cabeça e pescoço aos pacientes em tratamento de câncer. Enfatizando a importância do profissional Cirurgião Dentista (CD) sobre os cuidados pré e pós radioterápicos, visando minimizar alguns desses efeitos na cavidade bucal
